US$163-MILLION CONTRACT LET FOR AYKON CITY TOWER

Damac Properties has awarded a US$163-million contract to China State Construction Engineering Corp. for the main construction of a tower at its Aykon City master development, ConstructionWeekOnline reported. The work has already begun on the Dubai high rise, to include 53 residential floors, two basements, a ground floor and 10 podium levels, in addition to a dedicated lifestyle and entertainment level.

Site preparation is complete, with main construction work estimated to use more than 11,000 T. of steel and 94,682 m3 of concrete. The 372,000-m2 Aykon City plan consists of residences, serviced apartments, a hotel and office space on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Dubai Canal.


KONE PROVIDING ELEVATORS FOR HOTEL APARTMENTS, OFFICE BUILDING

KONE Providing Elevators for Hotel Apartments, Office Building

KONE has been selected to provide elevators for the 76-story, 323-m-tall WOW hotel apartment tower in Business Bay. KONE will be equipping the development with 16 MiniSpace®, seven MonoSpace®, two loading-bay and three disabled-access platform elevators. Designed by Aedas Architects Ltd. and developed by WOW Investments Ltd., the tower is scheduled for completion in 2020. KONE is also providing the vertical-transportation (VT) package for ICD Brookfield Place, a 54-story, 282-m-tall office tower under construction. The order includes 17 MonoSpace®, 27 MiniSpaceTM and two scenic elevators, and five escalators. Scheduled for completion in March 2019, ICD Brookfield Place will contain more than 950,000 sq. ft. of office space and be connected to a five-story, 150,000-sq.-ft. retail center. The project also includes a 21,000-sq.-ft. public area flanked by restaurants and parking for 2,700 cars. Developers are Investment Corp. of Dubai and Brookfield JV, and the main contractor is Multiplex Ssangyong JV.


MIXED-USE TOWER ON PALM JUMERIAH NEARS COMPLETION

Developer Nakheel announced in February that concrete work on its Palm Tower on Palm Jumeirah was more than 80% complete, with 42 of 50 floors delivered. The remainder are expected to be delivered by the third quarter of 2018. Located in the heart of the famous artificial archipelago Palm Jumeirah, Palm Tower will have a 289-room St. Regis hotel on the first 18 floors with approximately 430 residences above. Its rooftop complex will boast an infinity pool, public-viewing deck and fine-dining restaurant. Palm Tower is “at the doorstep” of the 1.1-million-sq.-ft. Ittihad indigenous nature park.


NEWEST LANDMARK, HADID-DESIGNED OPUS, OPENS

68th Annual Congress and Fair, which is the biggest fair in North America and organized by National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC), will be held in Orlando, in the U.S. state of Florida, at the Hyatt Regency & Orange County Convention Center between September 11-14, 2017. KONE OUTFITTING MIXED-USE QATAR TOWER WITH VT

KONE has won an order to outfit the mixed-use Al Mana Tower in Doha, Qatar, with vertical-transportation (VT) equipment that includes 11 MiniSpace® and six MonoSpace® elevators and four TravelMasterTM 110 escalators. The order also includes destination-control and E-Link monitoring systems. Standing 56 stories in the Al Dafna district, Al Mana Tower will contain 168 residences and 117 commercial offices within 117,508 m2. Slated for completion in early 2019, it is being developed by Mohammed Hamad Al Mana, with Al Bandary Engineering Trading & Contracting the main contractor.
